the daily fangirling
I have been having a fanlisting collective since 2004, for the 5th anniversary the collective changed it's name into fanatica.net
(hopefully the one to stay for a while, I know I say that far too often... :P). The domain was registered on 17th August 2008, was lurking around for a while
and went online at the beginning of January 2009. Previous names include inheart.net, skypainter.org, aprilchild.org, until-i-fall.net and
starlit-sea.net. This domain was registered through Dynadot and is hosted at
DreamHost.
Fanatica does mean... Nothing special. I was checking domains on availability when I was bored and first came up with kaotica.net which I liked
immediately and registered it. A few days later I was checking domains again and came up with fanatica as both fanatic and fanatical were already taken.
Fanatica didn't sound that bad so I entered the name to see which extensions were available and tada!: Only the .net one was free. So I grabbed it with no
reason in mind what to use it for as the .net is my favourite extension. Later my friend Emma told me that
fanatica is spanish for fangirl so the name is even more fitting! In the end of 2008 I decided to highly cut down on online activities and throw
everything on one domain but shortly after that I wasn't happy with this decision. I was browsing through my domains and found fanatica.net inbetween
the others and an idea popped up... A fitting name for a fanlisting collective. So I decided to put some effort into getting the fanlistings moved and the
collective up and here it is. I hope you enjoy it!
